 Your Job - Graduate Stories

Kim Mildenhall

  • Bachelor of Technology (Engineering and Automation)
  • Massey University Graduate
  • Joined CHH 1998

Kinleith Mill
I started at Kinleith in October 1998 as an Area Maintenance Planner for the Pulpmill. I looked after the maintenance planning for day and major shuts for three Pulpmills, the chemical plant and the wood preparation area. During this time I spent 2 weeks in the USA looking at maintenance planning at several International Paper mills.

In 2000 I became the system planner. My role involved the maintenance and development of the planning tools and databases we use and the training of 15 new workshop planners.

In July 2001 I moved into production as the Area Manager for No 2 Pulpdryer.

In December 2002 I took on the challenge of starting a new group with a staff of three where we concentrate on the manufacturing systems (tools and information) for the Pulpmill area.

During my time at Kinleith I have found that my scope of work has always been varied and interesting, you can never guarantee what your day will look like and there are always new challenges. There are plenty of development opportunities both with in house training and external courses. I am currently in the second year of a Post Graduate Diploma in Business and Administration.
